Description

Futr. is a disruptive tech company using AI to offer natural conversation-as-a-service. They build intelligent chatbots for businesses and organizations to engage with their customers and employees. I was brought on board to design the MVP of their new product, leveraging the success and insights from their existing platform, Chatamo.

Purpose

The goal was to create a new chatbot creator platform focused on improving and measuring employee engagement with AI and natural language. Futr.’s vision was to enable companies and employees to communicate as easily as having a conversation.

Projects

• MVP Design for New Product: Developed wireframes, user flows, and UI designs for a SaaS web app aimed at large governmental organizations and businesses.
• Feature Prioritization and Research: Analyzed Chatamo’s interface, conducted competitor analysis, and studied employee engagement techniques.
• UI Design and System Delivery: Led the design phase, created a consistent design system, and managed the delivery of responsive mockups.

Collaboration

I collaborated with:

• Stakeholders: Engaged in regular feedback sessions to refine wireframes and user flows.
• Junior Designer: Worked together on producing responsive mockups.
• Development Team: Ensured seamless implementation of the design system.

Role

As the lead designer, my responsibilities included:

• Initial Planning: Created wireframes and user flows for the core features of the new platform.
• Research Phase: Analyzed Chatamo’s functionality, conducted competitor landscape analysis, and mapped out potential customers.
• UI Design Phase: Designed components, solved information architecture challenges, and managed the delivery of the design system.
• Team Coordination: Guided a Junior Designer and collaborated with the development team to ensure consistency and alignment.

Success Metrics

The success of this project was measured by:

• Product Launch: Successful launch of a fully-fledged bot creator platform for employees and customers.
• Feature Adoption: The core features and designs created for the MVP continued to be used as Futr.’s core product.
• User Engagement: Improved employee engagement through intuitive and conversational corporate communication tools.

Outcome

The project evolved from an MVP to a comprehensive platform with features including:

• Employee Services: Engagement surveys, broadcasts, FAQs, office hours, knowledge search, HR ticket logging, email requests, and skill search.
• Management Tools: Dashboards, onboarding, service management, and permissions setup.
• Core Features: Onboarding flow, sign-in flow, multiple dashboards, Q&A library, knowledge search, announcements, surveys, live chat, absence admin, forms, settings, channel integration, and billing pages.

The designs and flows I created in just four months became the foundation for Futr.’s core product, which they continue to use today.

Conclusion

Working with Futr. was a challenging and rewarding experience that allowed me to design a product from the ground up, transforming an MVP into a robust, fully-functional chatbot creator platform. Through collaboration, research, and strategic design, we delivered a product that continues to drive employee engagement and communication for large organizations, showcasing the power of AI and natural language in the corporate world.
