Description
Skedulo creates cloud-based software that helps companies in any industry schedule, manage, engage, and analyze their deskless workforce. In today’s world, deskless workers outnumber desk-based workers four-to-one. Yet, they have been largely overlooked by technology providers and are still organized using paper, spreadsheets, and outdated technology. Skedulo is changing that with The Deskless Productivity Cloud, a powerful, scalable, and flexible platform to help organizations manage their mobile workforces, engage employees, and delight their customers.
Purpose
I was hired to design the Skedulo App Store, a crucial part of their platform aimed at enhancing the user experience for both app users and app creators.
Projects
- Skedulo App Store: Designed the app store to help users browse, search, and install apps, as well as manage their installed apps within Skedulo.
- App Publishing Journey: Created a seamless experience for app creators to publish their apps on the Skedulo store.
Collaboration
I worked closely with:
- UX Lead: To ensure design consistency and user-centric approaches.
- Director of Product Enablement: To align the project with business goals and user needs.
Role
As the designer, my role included:
- User Flow Design: Wireframing, storyboarding, designing, and prototyping a happy-path user flow for the app store.
- Exploration of Use Cases: Designing the journey for a specific persona, from landing on the app store homepage to installing and accessing an app within Skedulo.
- App Management Interface: Creating designs for users to modify app settings, view usage, and manage installed apps.
- App Publishing Workflow: Designing the flow for app creators to publish apps, including a dashboard, ‘My Apps’ page, and ‘Add New App’ user flow.
Success Metrics
The success of this project was measured by:
- User Engagement: Increased interaction with the app store and positive feedback from users.
- Ease of Use: Simplified processes for both app users and creators, leading to higher adoption rates.
- Design Efficiency: Achieving a seamless and intuitive design that met user needs and business goals.
Outcome
The Skedulo App Store project successfully delivered a user-friendly interface for both app users and creators. Key outcomes included:
- Enhanced User Experience: Users could easily browse, search, and install apps, as well as manage their app settings and usage.
- Simplified Publishing Process: App creators had a straightforward and clear workflow for publishing apps, with progress tracking and save-and-return functionality.
Conclusion
Designing the Skedulo App Store was a rewarding challenge that allowed me to utilize my skills in user experience and product design. By focusing on user needs and iterating on feedback, we created a platform that significantly improves how deskless workers interact with technology, enhancing productivity and engagement for both users and app creators.
