Description
For c2c, my main objective was to create a comprehensive design system to be used by Inviqa, c2c, two developer partner teams, and other third parties. The aim was to establish a single source of truth, improve workflow efficiency, and enhance the user experience by ensuring consistency and accessibility across all digital platforms.
Purpose
The goal was to streamline collaboration among various teams and third parties by developing a scalable, shareable, and automated design system. This would lead to improved workflow efficiency and a more consistent and accessible user experience online.
Projects
- c2c Design System: Developed a robust design system encompassing colors, typography, iconography, spacing, grid, breakpoints, atoms, molecules, organisms, and pages.
- Smaller Retainer Projects: Created UI animations in After Effects and designed UX flows and UI for a new type of ticket in Figma.
Collaboration
I worked closely with:
- Inviqa: Ensured alignment with their design and development processes.
- Developer Partner Teams: Facilitated collaboration and integration of the design system.
- Stakeholders: Conducted workshops and presented findings to align on goals and methodologies.
Role
As the lead designer, my role included:
- Initial Audit: Conducted an audit of the website user flows to identify inconsistencies and areas for improvement.
- Workshop Facilitation: Ran an online workshop using Mural to present findings and define new ways of working with all stakeholders.
- Design System Creation: Developed a comprehensive Design System file on Figma, covering all foundational elements.
- Playback Sessions: Shared the design system with third parties and set the foundations for collaboration and maintenance.
Success Metrics
The success of this project was measured by:
- Workflow Efficiency: Improved collaboration and reduced time spent on design and development processes.
- Consistency: Enhanced consistency across digital platforms, leading to a better user experience.
- Accessibility: Increased accessibility of digital products through standardized design practices.
Outcome
The creation of the c2c Design System resulted in:
- Unified Design Language: Established a single source of truth for all design elements, improving consistency and accessibility.
- Improved Collaboration: Facilitated better collaboration among internal teams and third-party partners.
- Efficient Workflows: Streamlined design and development processes, making them more scalable and automated.
Conclusion
Creating the design system for c2c was a transformative project that streamlined collaboration and enhanced the user experience. By establishing a single source of truth and aligning all stakeholders on new, efficient ways of working, we created a foundation that supports scalable, consistent, and accessible digital products. This case study underscores the importance of design systems in driving efficiency and delivering cohesive user experiences.
